4. Sprinkle in mozzarella cheese and stir. Once melted, add in the broccoli, cooked chicken, and parmesan cheese. Mix and allow it to rest for 10 minutes. This causes the sauce to thicken, and it softens the broccoli.

5. Garnish with more parmesan and serve warm. Devour!

Optional Ideas

Meat | You can swap out the chicken for shrimp to add a new spin! Or, go wild and add in some cooked, crumbled bacon.

Cooked steak is another juicy idea that is pretty tasty. Lastly, consider adding your usual meatballs.

Vegetables | Asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, peas would be great veggies to add. You will need to add them at the end when you toss in the broccoli for the best results.

Herbs | Sprinkle some chopped oregano, parsley, or basil and add it to the top of the chicken alfredo. You’ll notice how vibrant it looks and tastes.

Practical notes

What goes with chicken alfredo?

Honestly, this dish is so good it is a great stand-alone meal idea. Because it has protein and veggies, it’s filling. Some great side dish ideas that go well would be breadsticks, garden salad, or roasted vegetables.

Can we use different pasta?

Sure, you can swap the tagliatelle noodles with fettuccini or linguine noodles. Both are great options that will taste great. You will need to prepare the noodles ahead of time and cook them until they are almost done. Then add them to the sauce.

How do you thicken alfredo sauce?

As the chicken alfredo sits, the sauce will naturally thicken up. If you prefer it to be even thicker, go ahead and add in some extra mozzarella cheese or parmesan. It will be extra cheesy and thicker with the addition. Add 1/2 cup mozzarella or 1/4 cup parmesan.

  • 2 cups half and half

Method

  1. In a large skillet you will start by heating up your butter until it is melted. Toss in the garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes to allow it to become fragrant.
  2. Now you will whisk in your half and half, water, and sprinkle in the sea salt. Turn the heat to medium stirring continously.
  3. Now you will place your tagliatelle noodles in the cream sauce and cover with a lid. You will find the mixture will boil after you cover the pan.
  4. Cook for 5-7 minutes, make sure to watch the dish so it doens’t over-boil and spill out.
  5. Use tongs to flip the round noodles over and cover back up for an additional 3 minutes.
  6. Remove the lid and stir and when your pasta is close to done, you will add in the mozzarella cheese. Turn the heat down a little to low-medium heat. Stir often, and toss in broccoli, and cooked diced or shredded chicken.
  7. Remove from heat, and allow the mixture to sit with the lid on for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Top with salt, pepper, and parmesan. This is a delicious one pot alfredo recipe.

Kitchen notes

If you want to use fettuccine noodles just cook them in a separate pan as directed. Then drain and toss into the sauce at the end of cooking. You can pan-sear chicken that has been seasoned with salt and pepper if you would like. We would dice into 1-inch cubes and then cook till fully done, then move on to sauce if you don’t have pre-cooked chicken on hand. Feel free to leave out the broccoli if you would like. Store leftover alfredo chicken in the fridge for a few days. This dish due to the sauce does not freeze well.
