Recipe Notes:

Make sure you allow your Blackstone griddle to get nice and hot. Otherwise, the fries won’t crisp up properly. Only drop down a few fries at a time. If you dump a ton at once,e it can cause your grill to warp due to the huge influx of temperature. Make as many or as few fries as you would like. The cooking time for these flat top griddle fries varies depending on the temperature of the grill and the thickness of the fries.

Storing

We recommend making only what you plan to eat fresh and warm off the griddle. The texture and flavor will change significantly once it is frozen.

If you happen to have leftover fries, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 1-2 days. Then reheat on a Blackstone, in the microwave, or the oven.

No, you will keep the fries frozen. Thawing your fries first can cause them to become soggy and fail to crisp up as they cook on the griddle.

Do we need to use a dome lid to cook fries on the Blackstone?

You do not need a dome lid for cooking fries on the Blackstone. If you want to use one, it will speed up the cooking time and help achieve a more even cook. But you can easily cook without.

Can you cook fries on the Blackstone?

You can cook fries on a Blackstone grill. It offers a deep-fried texture, being crispy on the outside and fluffy potato centers.

Can we overlap fries on Blackstone?

The fries need to be in a single layer on your flat top griddle grill. If they are piled on and overlapping you will find your fries will cook unevenly. Some could be over cooked while others are still cold and need to cook.

Why are our fries soggy?

If you end up with soggy French fries, it could be two things. On,e you might not have had the grill up to a high enough heat. We recommend medium heat. Or the other option is that you did not allow them to cook on each side undisturbed long enough. The key is to cook your fries and allow them to sit a couple of minutes and then when they look golden turn to cook the other sides.

Ingredients

Makes 6 servings

  • 1/2 bag Frozen French Fries
  • 3 tablespoons Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Seasoning

Equipment

  • 1 Blackstone Griddle Grill
  • 1 Spatula or Tongs

Method

  1. Preheat your Blackstone Grill to medium heat for about 10-15 minutes. You want to make sure your grill is nice and hot.
  2. Then you will add down 2-3 tablespoons of oil. You want a good amount as it is going to give your fries that crispy texture.
  3. Slowly add a little bit of fries at a time. Do handfuls, don't dump them all or it will potentially warp your Blackstone. Season with season salt, or any other seasoning of choice.
  4. Cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes, and then check to see if they are turning golden brown. If so you will flip them over and cook the other sides.
  5. Cook until the French fries are golden brown and crispy. Once they are done remove from the griddle and place in basket and serve.

Kitchen notes

French Fries

– Any brand of fries work. We used a straight cut fry for this recipe. If you use a larger or thicker fry adjust the cook time as needed. Depending on the thickness of the fries the cook time varies. Heating Griddle – You want to cook on medium heat, if it is too hot it will burn, and you run a higher risk of warping your griddle from the frozen fries. Seasoning – You can leave your French fries plain or season them. If you do just salt then season right after you pull off the griddle.
